Jon Schofield, PB

Jon spent many years working as a professional accountant. He worked for several years with larger companies, but sought a challenge working with smaller companies. He felt that his career was getting stale and lacked challenge.

He graduated from Universal Accounting's Professional Bookkeeper™ (PB) program and put the skills learned there to work for him. He grew his own accounting and bookkeeping service into a very profitable company.

He is an example of what the Universal Accounting can do for anyone who applies its marketing principles. Jon states that before he took the training offered by Universal Accounting, he didn't know how to speak to small businesses, much less market to them.

Victoria Richardson, PB

Victoria started her business in January of 2004, and has seen incredibly rapid growth and profit ever since. She only spent the first 6 weeks marketing. Since then, she has had all the clients she can handle. In fact, she tells us that she has had to cut down to "only" 18 clients so that she has the quality time that she wants to spend with her children.

Time For What Matters Most

Victoria's creed is "family first." Having her own successful accounting and bookkeeping service has given her the options to spend much more time with her children. She happily reports that she only works about 25 hours during the "regular" workweek and another 15 hours while her children are sleeping. She enthusiastically explains how she only works Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Her children have her Thursday through Sunday.

Some of our graduates place more emphasis on earning as much money as they can, making $30 to $60 per hour. But that is only one goal with starting your own successful business. For Victoria, having time with her children was more important. The great income and flexible schedule that she enjoys gives her that freedom not available in most corporate career settings. Scott Ivins, PB

Scott Ivins is a great example of one that worked in corporate America for a number of years before discovering how rewarding working for yourself can really be.

Scott found that he learned more about real-world practical accounting with Universal Accounting then he had learned with an associate's degree. Universities teach plenty of accounting theory, but if you want hands-on learning that you can put to work right away, Scott is evidence that you just can't beat being trained by the Universal Accounting Center.

Rebecca The PortraitTwo years ago I became a Professional Bookkeeper™ after completing the Universal Accounting Program. Out of all the courses I've taken and certifications I've received, the Professional Bookkeeper™ designation has proven to be the most valuable in terms of immediate results and return on investment.

I relocated to Phoenix from Detroit 7 years ago seeking a more relaxed lifestyle. Instead I found myself working longer hours, assuming more responsibilities and receiving fewer promotions and salary increases. I really felt I had bumped into that "glass ceiling."

I no longer had the energy to engage in the politics. One day I literally "fired my boss" and walked out. I realized I could not return to a corporate environment. I had closed a door and needed a plan. Universal Accounting became part of that plan.

I was not ready to discard my skills as an accountant. My desire was to assist small businesses with their finances and planning. I wanted to be useful and appreciated.

Getting started was difficult because I did not know how to market my business. I also needed some practical accounting education for small business. My experience in corporate accounting did not lend itself to the small business environment.

I did my research on the Internet to find a source for additional training in small business accounting. It was through my searches that I found Universal Accounting. I subscribed to their newsletter and immediately was getting answers to questions. I knew these folks had the information I needed to pursue my business, so I enthusiastically enrolled with Universal Accounting.

I felt confident, empowered and knowledgeable after completing the course. I had all the tools I needed to successfully pursue my own bookkeeping business.

March 2005 was a banner month for me — I recorded over $10,000 in billings. I never would have imagined doing that well and that soon. I was never compensated that well by a corporation.

I am finally living the life I envisioned for myself. With the increased earnings and flexibility of being my own boss, so far this year I have been able to take 2 trips to Maui. I have planned additional trips to Las Vegas, New England, and Singapore throughout the year. I have already booked a 50th wedding anniversary vacation with my parents to Maui next year on April 17. Universal Accounting gave me the practical skills to successfully reach my goals.
