UAC History

Universal Accounting Center’s (UAC) roots go back generations.  It was founded on the hard work and dedication of Alf Bostrom. Alf had a variety of jobs with small businesses, each being different and teaching him different aspects of accounting. He identified certain universal principles that made companies profitable and successful.

In the 1960’s, Alf decided to venture into business for himself, and he started a management company. For a percentage of the potential future profits, he would take over the management of businesses that were experiencing huge losses, many on the brink of bankruptcy, and promise to turn them around. What business owner wouldn’t take that offer? Alf didn’t earn a dime unless the business became successful.
Alf learned by experience how to make any business successful through adherence to basic principles in production, marketing and accounting. He also learned that Universities teach corporate accounting, but no one teaches accounting to the small businessperson, especially how the accounting professional should market themselves.  So to fill the gap, Alf created and wrote a small business accounting program. He opened his doors in 1979. UAC was formed to teach CPA’s, Accountants, and Business Owners small business accounting.

In 1992, Alf’s son Allen Bostrom, a CPA, joined the company with passion for business and knowledge to build a CPA’s practice. Since that time Universal has become an International Institution with campuses located across the nation. Universal’s by-line, “If it’s about Accounting, it’ Universal,” transcends the simple phrase. The training and product lines have become a mainstay in the accounting industry.
